Meet John

John Ewing grew up in Hanover County, VA. John attended Virginia Commonwealth University and graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Teaching with a focus on Secondary Science. After graduation, John was hired by the Hanover Health Department and became an Environmental Health Specialist. It was there John met his future business partner Jason Hackler. After working for the Health Department for two years, John and Jason set out on their own to perform septic soil studies and permit designs in the private sector. In 2006 they began installing septic systems and providing customers with turn-key service. Eventually, their services expanded to include septic tank pump-outs, real estate inspections, and routine operation and maintenance of alternative septic systems. Currently, John is the president of SepTech, Inc. John is a fully licensed Master Alternative Onsite Soil Evaluator, Master Alternative Onsite Sewage System Operator, and a Master Alternative Onsite Sewage System Installer. John was appointed in 2015 as a board member on the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators and Onsite Sewage System Professionals and is slated to serve until 2025. John has also served three terms as a board member for the Virginia Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association. John is the proud father of two awesome children, Abby Sue (15 years old) and Isaac (12 years old).

Meet Jason

Jason Hackler grew up in Louisa County, VA. John attended Virginia Polytechnic University and graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Crop and Soil Environmental Science. After graduation, Jason was hired by the Hanover Health Department and became an Environmental Health Specialist, Sr. It was there Jason met his future business partner John Ewing. After a year and a half, Jason Moved to the Chesterfield Health Department. After working for the Health Department for three years, John and Jason set out on their own to perform septic soil studies and permit designs in the private sector. In 2006 they began installing septic systems and providing customers with turn-key service. Eventually, their services expanded to include septic tank pump-outs, real estate inspections, and routine operation and maintenance of alternative septic systems. Currently, Jason is the treasurer of SepTech, Inc. Jason is a fully licensed Master Alternative Onsite Soil Evaluator, Journeyman Alternative Onsite Sewage System Operator, and a Master Alternative Onsite Sewage System Installer.
